The Journey ‘Receiving the News’

Receiving pregnant test news could come with different feelings. It could be the most exciting news ever to those who have been trying to fall pregnant for sometime, it could be a shock to those who gave up on having babies and probably they have been told in different occasions that they will never be able to have kids. (These one can say NO Doctor you are lying and leave the office to go check from a different clinic, and another one and another one). I know a person who did this. 
There are also those who are not ready and babies are a new vocabulary in their current life dictionary, this news to them is as bad as the Dr. telling you that ‘you have the uncured disease’. The last category is of those who love kids and knew they will one day have them but they just didn’t see it coming.

I fall under the last group, i wanted a baby so much and i could not wait but when it happened it was like a surprise from GOD. I know you are wondering ‘a surprise’????? Well, I’m not a virgin Mary but being grown up you are, you will understand that my timings were a little different from the news. Thank GOD i did the first test at home and YES! I did not believe and so i went to the clinic.

How do Doctors deliver the News?

It is obvious that we receive the news differently, and we all expect Doctors to understand that. On my side it was not a big problem since i already knew by 90 percent that i may be pregnant and my Gynaecologist confirmed and gave me the ABCs of the journey.

I have heard of Doctors who gave you the news as if you went to confirm if your teeth were clean or not. This Doctor simply told my friend ‘You are pregnant’ period! And he went mute..............Jesus! no counselling no guidelines. If this person was not prepared for the news, she may not even reach home safe, as I said earlier, to some people these news is as bad as being told you have the uncured disease.

I think this is very wrong, Doctors should prepare a pregnant woman for the news.

For this case, i personally recommend to those who will go to find out if they are pregnant to not expect too much from the Doctor. Prepare yourself for the news, think of both results and all the positive things if the test is positive.  If it is negative and you are so much in need of the baby, just have faith, and know that GOD knows your tomorrow, he knows when to bless you with a baby.
